The Local Legends 3v3 Street Football Tournament was a testament to the depth, talent, and creativity of the Hampton Roads footballing community. Ballers from all over the area came together to compete in this vibes-only, street tourney for the $1,000 cash prize and the chance to become Local Legends. Everyone from high-school ballers to retired MLS professionals took part in this event but once they stepped on the court the playing field was level.

After an eventful and entertaining night of group stage games, two teams were left tied on points and goal differential heading into the semis, Multiserv FC and Pueblo FC. Following ISFA official street football regulations - a 1v1 golden goal battle ensued with Jonathan Konan of Pueblo FC finding the back of the net to secure a spot in the semi-finals. Two highly competitive semi-final matches were played with Pueblo FC finding they were down to only 3 players left to compete, no subs. Despite their disadvantage, Pueblo FC fought hard to beat Coupla Boys - a close knit group of experienced ballers including local legend from Cox High and retired Houston Dynamo midfielder Eric Bird. Meanwhile, Ripple FC and VII-V-VII, both consisting of talented local high-school, college, and semi-pro players and two favorites to win the cup, put on a show for the crowd in their semi ultimately leaving VII-V-VII to move through to the final.

Finals - Pueblo FC vs VII-V-VII. With three men vs six, Pueblo FC defied all odds through the finals coming back multiple times and even leading the match eventually before finding both teams tied 3:3 at full time. A 3 minute golden goal overtime period began with VII-V-VII providing all the pressure, but in a moment of pure magic, the ball popped out to Jonathon Konan of Pueblo FC in his own half and without thinking twice he smashed a perfectly guided half-volley into the net with less than a minute on the clock to win the game. We couldn’t have scripted it better.
